Blasting off
many years of peeling anti-fouling paint

In 2001, crushed platic buttons were blasted on the hull to remove many coats of hard antifouling paint. Sand would have been too agressive on the gel coat. The pressure was just high enough to reveal eventual blisters. Very few were found on the whole boat! Most were concentraded at the bow. This is a very difficult area to spray during the lay-up process because of close quarters. |
